Warranty and General Policies

Standard:    New - one year limited.  Two year enhanced available.
Reconditioned - 30 Days Limited
(longer if system or parts limited warranty applies)

All warranties are void if the PC components are not used with an approved UPS or surge suppressor strip specifically designed for computer use.  Power strips from the local Home Depot don't count. All of the surge suppressors and UPS', Uninterruptible Power Supply, sold from AE Systems meet this standard. All products are from American Power Conversion.

Software and Add-ons

No AE Systems installation or warranty support for third-party products.

Twenty days refund or exchange. All limited warranties are provided by the original manufacturer/publisher - not AE Systems. All products for return or exchange must be in 100% resale condition including all manuals and packing materials. This includes all warranty cards. If any of these conditions are not observed, substantial restocking or repackaging fees may result. Items returned in less than 100% resaleable condition cannot be returned for credit. Special order items are not returnable.

AE Systems does not offer price protection on products if they are not returned for warranty repair or replacement.

For example, a PC is ordered with a PII 350MHz CPU. Two weeks later the customer wants to upgrade to a PII 450MHz CPU. During this time the cost for all CPUs dropped. The upgrade cost is the difference between the current value of the old 350MHz CPU and the current value of the 450MHz CPU. The difference may be larger or smaller than the original cost differential. The upgrade cost tend to drop with time, however.

As another example, a customer buys a hard drive. On day 19 he returns the drive, and it is unused, still sealed in the original packaging. During this time, however, the drive's cost dropped $15. The amount of the refund would be the amount paid for the hard drive less $15.

Factory Installed Software

From software publisher only. Certain applications programs installed by AE Systems. Support available for first 30 days, thereafter from software publisher.

Specially manufactured or customer configured systems.

Different from standard AE Systems Warranties.

Limited One-year warranty: AE Systems warrants that the hardware products it manufactures will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty term is one year beginning on the date of invoice. Damage due to drop shipping the products to you is covered under this warranty. Otherwise, this warranty does not cover damage due to external causes, including accident, abuse, misuse, problems with electrical power, abusive environments such as salt air near the ocean, servicing not authorized by AE Systems, usage not in accordance with product instructions, failure to perform required preventive maintenance, and problems caused by use of parts and components not supplied by AE Systems. This warranty does not cover any items that are in one or more of the following categories: software; external devices (except as specifically noted); accessories or parts added to an AE Systems PC after the system is shipped from AE Systems; accessories or parts added to a AE Systems PC through AES' system integration department; accessories or parts that are not installed in the AES factory.

MANY INDIVIDUAL ITEMS IN THE PC MAY HAVE LONGER WARRANTIES DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF THAT COMPONENT. AE SYSTEMS' WARRANTY ONLY STATES MINIMAL LEVELS NOT THE MAXIMUMS THAT MAY EXIST.

AE Systems MAKES NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS BEYOND THOSE STATED IN THIS WARRANTY STATEMENT. AE Systems DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SOME STATES (OR JURISDICTIONS) DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS, SO THIS LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Limited Two-year warranty:

Same as 1-year with following exception: (1)The warranty term is two years beginning on the date of invoice.

Exchanges on warranty repairs:

At AE Systems' discretion, products or parts are exchanged or repaired. This is an important point. When an item fails under warranty AES is only liable for replacement of comparable hardware and only for the remainder of the original warranty period. This doesn't mean that AES must replace the defective components with a new, or better model. Nor does it mean that the part must be replaced immediately. It means that the item will be replaced at no cost to the customer when replacement parts ship. As an example, a motherboard fails with two months left on the warranty. AE Systems must replace the defective motherboard. However, the warranty on the replacement item would only cover the remaining two months of the original warranty. It also may take a few weeks for the original part to be repaired and returned to the customer.

Whenever possible AES will replace defective hardware with new parts to keep our customer's up and running. This is our general policy. We are not able to do this in all cases, however. In some cases replacing the original hardware is impossible. After a period of time parts and accessories go out of production in favor of something featuring newer technology. The cycle may only take a few months. It is the nature of the PC business, and there is little AES can do about it.

Frequently, the technology changes drastically during the warranty cycle. Because of this fact, a customer with a bad 1-1/2 year only motherboard, for example, may be given a couple of options for a replacement.

1) He could wait for the bad product to be returned to the original vendor, and then a replacement item would be shipped back. The cost would be zero, since it was a warranty repair. The replacement time may be several weeks.

2) An upgrade option might be a better path. The customer might be given a chance to obtain a better part than the one originally in the system. The upgrade would be the value of the new product less the current value of the old part. The customer would need to make up the difference in cost. Downtime is usually a few days at most.

Option two might seem odd or unfair. The way PC's have changed in the last few years, however, paying a few dollars for the new version of a product makes much more sense than even trying to use the old part in many cases. For example, you buy a 1GB SCSI HD. Two years later it dies with a month left on the warranty. You are entitled to a used but working 1GB HD, but by today's standards, that is much too small to be of any use. It was fine two years ago, but no one makes anything that small anymore. Your hardware is obsolete. However, you might want a 3 or 4GB drive for a few dollars more. Many PC manufacturers offer this type of upgrade plan. It keeps the customer happy and solves the problem of returning old parts that are hard to repair. The biggest benefits for option two are minimal downtime and a brand new warranty for new hardware. The replacement part is now new, so the warranty clock restarts.

Shipping

All items must be returned to AE Systems freight prepaid. No C.O.D. packages will be accepted at any time. All returns must obtain verbal or email mailto:RMADEPT@AESYSTEMS.COM return authorization before packages will be accepted. AE Systems will pay for return shipping charges on defective or warranty replacements via UPS ground. Additional charges for faster shipping are generally the responsibility of the customer unless prior arrangements have been made with AE Systems.

All items returned for replacement or exchange must be in the original packing containers and include all manuals and cables. Items returned without the original packing materials, etc.,  may be subject to additional packaging and shipping charges. Items may also be refused at AES' discretion. The reason is simple: if it can't be returned to the original distributor for replacement, then AES must spend unnecessary time and money to get it back to the original manufacturer. Some vendors will not accept any returns if they are not in original packaging. Period. So don't write on, label, or pitch packing materials for a few months, especially monitor boxes! Once you mark, label, or modify in any way any product, it is generally returnable for repair only.
